Welcome to Sedlescombe Park
Specialist Dementia Care Home in Rugby, Warwickshire
Sedlescombe Park has been established for over forty years. The home is situated on Dunchurch Road, Rugby, on a direct route into Rugby town centre. The house is an attractive, large building, and has maintained many original features offering accommodation to twenty four residents for long (palliative), short respite stays or day care.
Accommodation is split over three floors, with single and double occupancy rooms (for couples), some with en-suite facilities. The bedrooms are accessible via a passenger lift as well as the original staircase. There are several bathrooms and a shower room which provide assisted facilities.
A large lounge offers a television and a variety of activities which are there for residents' enjoyment, off this lounge there is a large conservatory which gives access and views to the garden areas, this is also used as the dining area, providing a relaxed atmosphere for meal times.
A further lounge offers a quiet area for reading, and/or chatting. Both lounges are the setting for the variety of entertainment, such as reminiscence sessions and music.
The garden provides raised flower beds and areas for residents to enjoy gardening if they wish to, with a large summer house.
Our staff are well trained, by our in-house training department, to provide 24 hour specialist dementia care. They are also encouraged and enabled to develop further by completing their NVQ and Diploma in Health and Social Care qualifications.
Tasty nutritionally balanced meals, made from local produce as well as delicious home made cakes are provided by our cook each day.
We have a programme of activities and events planned to encourage interests and involvement but we interfere with residents' routines as little as possible, and respect residents wishes for quiet time and 1 to 1 activities. See our activities page for more details.
My name is Jenny Irwin and I am Registered Manager of Sedlescombe Park.
I have been manager since April 2014 and was deputy 2.5 years prior to that.
With over 18 years of care experience, mainly in care homes but also 2 years in home-care, I have a level 3 NVQ in Health and Social Care and Level 5 Diploma and have completed training in Dementia Leadership.
I hope that I inspire all of my staff at Sedlescombe Park to build on their training and development, to really understand dementia and continue learning how best to empower individuals living with dementia to lead full and active lives.
